Reports from the trenches of the San Diego beer scene

Beer & Sandals

San Diego is home to some of the finest beers, breweries and brewmasters in the world.

We relish the opportunity to be your companions in navigating these glorious waters.

About Us

Nate

Nate is the tech guy for a construction company in San Diego.

He’s married, and his wife has no interest in beer, although she loves going to Stone for the Chocolate Cake, and she’s always willing to try a brew.  He secretly hopes that someday she’ll find a beer she likes, but is also glad she doesn’t because he doesn’t have to share.

Chris

Chris works as a software engineer at a local San Diego based tech company.

He’s married to a girl who enjoys beer as much as he does but can’t enjoy it as regularly as she’d like to so he does it for her.  He enjoys golf, fishing, food and beer (of course).

Why We’re Here

Our goal here is to experience new beers, to congregate and discuss said beers in a forum a little larger than the local pub. We want to keep you informed of the goings-on and want you to return the favor.

We’re just a couple of guys who feel very fortunate to live in San Diego. As residents of this fine city we have the privilege of enjoying its many benefits, not the least of which are the fine brews offered by local brewmasters.  We want to experience these benefits to their fullest potential.

Over the past few years we have come to appreciate the amazing variety of world-class craft brews available throughout the county. We’re not beer experts, far from it.  We are learning as we go.  However, through this journey we’ve realized that beer isn’t just a beverage, it’s an experience. An opportunity to ponder and debate it’s merits (or shortfalls) with friends in good company.

We’ll be posting here a few times per week, maybe more. We’ll be letting you know what we think about the brews we sample, and want to hear your thoughts. Comment on our posts or email us.

A few points of interest:

  • We’ve compiled what we think is a pretty comprehensive list of breweries and beers in San Diego. Let us know if we missed any.
  • Likewise with the events calendar. I know it’s pretty Stone-centric, but that’s only because they publicize so well. Let us know of any other beer-related events coming up
