I recently had the pleasure of attending an AleSmith tasting, at the Holiday Wine Cellar In Escondido, and sampled many of the offerings of AleSmith including AleSmith X. While this was not my favorite brew from AleSmith, I thought it deserved a second chance but this time apart from it’s more dominating counterparts.
I paired X with a delicious hearty barbecue dinner consisting of steaks, chicken, sausages and an array of sides that would need some help washing down. X was the perfect match with a semi-bitter crisp taste that complemented the many flavors that were consumed that night.
Out of the bottle, X has a light nose consisting of little fruit and subtle hints of yeast. The head was bright white and dissipated slowly while the taste was crisp, wheat-y, citrus-y, with a light hop feel.
Overall a great beer and textbook APA.
